Important Reminders:

1.       Chaperones

All parents are considered chaperones when attending field trips. Therefore, Per Hamilton County Department of Education policy, all parents MUST have a background check prior to attending a field trip. All forms are available in the Middle Valley Elementary School office.

Due to the educational purpose of school field trips, parent attendance will be limited. Teachers will determine how many chaperones are required for each trip. Siblings (younger or older) or other children will not be allowed to attend field trips.

Students must ride on the school bus to and from the field trip. Students may not be dismissed from the field trip location.

2.     Classroom Parties

Per Hamilton County Department of Education policy, 2 parties may be held each year. One prior to winter break and the second at Valentine’s Day. Classroom parties are coordinated by the homeroom parent in cooperation with the teacher. Parties will be scheduled at the end of the school day. We encourage parents to attend classroom parties and celebrate with their children however, please understand all adults attending will be helping with set up, clean up and serving the children. Classroom parties are for the children, therefore due to safety concerns, younger siblings and children not attending Middle Valley Elementary will not be allowed to attend.

Occasionally, a class may have a reward party or academic celebration upon receiving approval from the Principal.

3.     Birthdays

Per Hamilton County Department of Education policy, No birthday parties are allowed. Daily recognition of students with birthdays will be made during morning announcements. The Middle Valley Elementary PTO will provide a treat for each student on their birthday. Due to allergies and other health concerns, parents will not be allowed to bring cupcakes or other food items to be distributed to the class. Birthday celebration deliveries are discouraged (flowers, balloons, etc.) and will remain in the office until the end of the school day.  It is a distraction in the classroom and difficult to transport such items on the school bus.  Thanks for your cooperation with this request. All arrangements, for activities not sponsored by the school, need to be made at home. Private party invitations will not be allowed to be given out at school unless the entire classroom is receiving an invitation.

Thank you for your cooperation with these requests as we strive to provide an effective, efficient and safe learning environment for your children at Middle Valley Elementary.
